LOTO (Lockout/Tagout)

LOTO Training in Augmented Reality (AR)

LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) is an essential safety procedure to prevent risk of injury and fatal accidents among millions of workers who routinely service potentially dangerous equipment. There are countless machines that pose a risk, and multiple hazardous energy sources, whether electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or thermal. Unplanned startup or discharge of stored energy during servicing and maintenance of equipment creates a risk of generating accidents with irreparable damage.

The essential protection provided by LOTO is based on common safety rules - although these may vary depending on the company and the type of industrial equipment. Authorized employees should integrate the process so deeply that it becomes second nature. This can be done in AR through repetitive practice in training sessions that are perfectly tailored to your internal energy control procedures and LOTO devices.

Learning Objectives

In this AR training simulator, trainees will learn the objectives of LOTO procedures as well as the key steps and best practices to follow. They will learn to identify sources of energy, risks and consequences of inadequate management, for their own safety and for the safety of others.

They'll also be able to identify authorized and affected employees in Lockout/Tagout procedures, and when to utilize various types of lock and tag devices

Audience

Employees facing hazardous energies, craft workers, electricians, machine operators, laborers.

LOTO Training Scenarios

Training in Augmented Reality provides your employees with an opportunity to practice without limits, anywhere and at any time. Repeating LOTO procedures multiple times in complete safety, and being able to face the consequences of potential mistakes, is the best way to help them protect themselves.

All equipment and devices are represented in photorealistic 3D visuals in Augmented Reality that allows the trainees to learn about LOTO safety in an immersive environment without any risk to themselves or others. The rendering is extremely realistic and is based on input from LOTO professionals.

Users are able to move freely around the equipment to inspect machines and their hazardous energy sources from every angle. Trainees use the camera on their phone to experience life-size industrial equipment in the safety of their own homes or office, putting them in a real scenario. They must complete the required steps correctly by taking on the roles of all of the different employees involved in the LOTO procedure.

Lock-out/tag-out scenarios are closely connected to company standards and equipment type. To meet your needs, our LOTO template can be customized with the following settings:

Single or multiple hazardous energy sources

Management of one or more energy sources: electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, thermal, radioactive.

Number of authorized employees

Possibility of individual or group LOTO, with management of the corresponding Lockout/Tagout devices: hasp, lock box, types of padlocks and tags, etc.

Company standards

Integration of your vocabulary and safety procedures in the instructions and quizzes presented to trainees.
